The bio points to the link in your profile. The link itself goes in the Links field.
What you type is sent to an AI model. Every bio comes back at 150 characters or fewer.
This is as far as the tool gets with what you typed.

What the limits here come from

Instagram Help Center, add a website to your profile for the Links field and its 5 websites.
The profiles on this page follow the same rules the tool runs.
The short answer
- Instagram allows a bio of up to 150 characters. Every bio this tool returns fits: the code cuts any that runs over before you see it.
- A strong bio answers three questions in two or three short lines: what you sell or post, who it is for, and what to tap next.
- Your link goes in the Links field, which holds up to 5 websites. The bio points to it in words, so this tool never writes a URL into the bio.
- You get 5 bios in 5 patterns: what you do, offer first, who it is for, with personality, and short and simple. Pick one, or take a line from two.

Eight ads from the Selzee gallery, each set as an Instagram profile with a bio written from the ad's own words, to the same rules the tool runs. Every one fits in 150 characters; the pattern and the count are under each.
What do real DTC brands put in their Instagram bio?
Glossier opens its bio with a four word promise: "Skin first. Makeup second." It says what the brand believes and what it sells in one breath, with nothing to skip.
Bombas puts its giving model in the bio, one purchased and one donated, and a hashtag buyers can tag, #BombasInTheWild. The bio sells a reason to buy along with the socks.
OLIPOP fits the product and its two numbers into one line: "The feel good soda", two emoji, then "High fiber, 5g or less sugar". A reader knows what it is and why it is different before they tap.
Liquid Death leans on its own hashtags, #MurderYourThirst and #DeathToPlasticBottles, so the bio carries the joke and the mission at once.
What the four share: the first words say what the brand is, there is one reason to care, and there is no filler. We read these bios on 26 October 2026 from each brand's Instagram listing, as Instagram's own page showed in search. Bios change, so open the profile for today's version.
Which bio pattern fits your account?
Start from the pattern that fits your account, then make it yours. The example lines are made up to show the shape; the tool writes from what you type, never from these.
| Account | Pattern to start with | What the bio says | An example line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shop or DTC brand | Offer first, or what you do | The product, one fact that sets it apart, where to shop | Washable wool slippers. Free returns. |
| Creator | With personality | Your topic, your angle, what a follower gets | Weeknight dinners in 20 minutes. New recipe every Sunday. |
| Local business | What you do | What you do, where, and how to book or visit | Sourdough and coffee on Market Street. Open 7 to 3. |
| Coach or service | Who it is for | Who you help, the result, how to start | I help new runners finish their first 10K. |
| App or software | What you do | What the product does in plain words, and for whom | Invoices that send themselves. Built for freelancers. |
| Nonprofit | Who it is for | The cause, what you do about it, how to help | Free meals for kids in our city. Donate below. |
What counts toward the 150 characters?
Every letter, space, emoji and line break counts. A line break is one character, so a four line bio spends 3 of its 150 on breaks.
Emoji are where character counts disagree. This tool counts each emoji as 2 characters, the stricter way, so a bio it shows at 150 always fits when you paste it.
Your links do not count: they live in the Links field, up to 5 of them. Your name and your @username are separate fields too, so the bio can spend all 150 characters on what you sell.
How do you use the Instagram bio generator?
-
Say who the account is
What you sell or post, and who it is for, in a sentence or two.
-
Pick a tone, add an offer
Friendly, bold, playful or minimal. Add key words or a call to action under "More details".
-
Copy a bio
Each bio shows its count out of 150. Copy it and paste it into Edit profile, Bio.
How do you write an Instagram bio that gets taps?
Say what you are in line one
A visitor reads the first line and decides. Put the product or the topic there.
Write for one person
Name who the account is for. "For new runners" says more than "for everyone".
Give one reason to care
One true fact: a guarantee, an ingredient, a mission. Pick one.
End on one next step
Shop, book, read or watch. Point to the link below in words, then put the link in the Links field.
Use short lines
Two to four short lines read faster than one long one on a phone.
Change it with the season
A new drop, a sale or a launch is a reason to update the last line.

How we checked
Last checked: 26 October 2026. The 150 character limit comes from Instagram's help page on bios, and the 5 links from its page on websites.
- Ten fit cases were worked by hand: a bio under the limit, exactly 150, one line past it cut on a whole word, a three line bio losing its last line, emoji counted as 2 and never cut in half, a comma left at the end, a line with a link, an em dash, blank lines and markdown. The code agrees with every one.
- When a bio comes back over 150, the code asks the model once more, then cuts any bio still over. A test sends a 221 character bio and checks that it comes back at 150 or fewer, on a whole word.
- The code removes any @ handle or hashtag you did not type, so no account or campaign is made up.
- Typical, boundary and hostile inputs ran through the real page with the model reply stubbed: an empty form, a one word description, a non-English description and an instruction typed into the description box.
- The eight profiles above carry bios written from each ad's own words and checked by the same code the tool runs.
