What the rules here come from

TikTok Support, changing your username for the allowed characters, no period at the end, and one change every 30 days.

The short answer

A TikTok username is the @name people type to find and tag you. TikTok allows only letters, numbers, underscores and periods in it, a period cannot be the last character, and you can change it once every 30 days.
It holds up to 24 characters (NapoleonCat; TikTok does not publish the figure). Your name, the line above it, holds up to 30 characters of any kind.

No tool can tell you for sure which names are free, because TikTok has no public lookup. Each idea links to its TikTok page, and the app tells you for certain when you type it in.

TikTok username rules

What every idea here is checked against, read from TikTok's help center and NapoleonCat on 24 October 2026. On top of TikTok's rules the tool sets its own: lowercase, at least 4 characters, no period at the start or two in a row, and never the words tiktok or official.

TikTok username or name: which is which

Your profile has two names. The @username is unique: no two accounts share one, and it is what people type to find you, tag you or mention you in a comment. Your name is the larger line on the profile. Two accounts can have the same name, and it takes any character.

Say it out loud

If you have to spell it for someone, it is too hard. Fewer periods and underscores help.

Keep it short

A short name is easier to remember and to tag. Aim for 15 characters or fewer.

Use the same name everywhere

Check the idea on Instagram and YouTube too, so people find you with one name.

Name what you post

A word about your topic tells a new viewer what to expect before they tap.

Leave out years and numbers

A number reads as "the name was taken". Change a word instead.

Do not copy a brand

A name that looks like another brand's account can get yours reported. Make it yours.

Is the username taken?

The tool cannot see TikTok's list of taken names, and no outside tool can: TikTok has no public lookup for it. So each idea comes with a "Check on TikTok" link that opens tiktok.com/@ and the name.

If an account opens, the name is taken. If the page says the account does not exist, the name may be free, but only the app can say for sure: Profile, Edit profile, Username. TikTok tells you there if the name is free.

How we checked

Last checked: 24 October 2026. The username rules and the 30 day limit come from TikTok's help center; the 24 and 30 character limits from NapoleonCat, because TikTok does not publish them.

Thirteen clean-up cases were worked by hand, including a leading @, a period at the end, two periods in a row, spaces, accents and emoji, exactly 24 and 25 characters, digits only, and the words tiktok and official. The code agrees with every one.
The code cleans every idea the model returns, drops repeats across the groups, and drops the name group when no name was typed, so no brand name is made up.
Typical, boundary and hostile inputs ran through the real page with the model reply stubbed: an empty form, a one word topic, a non-English topic and an instruction typed into the topic box.
