The short answer

TikTok has no font menu for your name, bio or captions. A TikTok font generator gets around that: it swaps each letter for a Unicode letter that looks bold, italic, script or boxed, and TikTok shows those letters like any other text.
The styles come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block of Unicode and from the Enclosed Alphanumerics. They cover A to Z, a to z and 0 to 9. An accent, an emoji or another alphabet stays as you typed it.
Styled text works in your name, bio, captions and comments. It does not work in your @username, which TikTok limits to letters, numbers, underscores and periods.

Where fancy fonts work on TikTok

Where you can paste styled text on TikTok, and the limit of each place. TikTok publishes the caption limit in its Content Posting API reference and the username rules in its help center. How a TikTok font generator works

TikTok has no font setting, so this tool swaps each letter. "A" becomes 𝐀, U+1D400 in the Unicode chart, a separate character that every phone already knows how to draw as a bold A.

Each style is one such set: bold, italic, script, gothic (called fraktur in the chart), outline (double-struck), sans, typewriter (monospace), and their bold and italic forms. Bubbles and squares come from the enclosed letters, wide text from the full-width forms, and small caps from Latin letters that look like small capitals.

Some letters are missing from a set because Unicode had them first in another block. The script e, the italic h and the outline R are three of them. The tool fills each gap with the right letter from Letterlike Symbols, so no letter falls back to plain in the middle of a word.

Style one part, not all of it

One styled word or line stands out. A whole bio in gothic is hard to read.

Keep the words people search plain

A styled letter is a different character. Your brand name in plain letters is the one people can type.

Check it on a phone first

A style that shows boxes on your phone shows boxes for your viewers too. Pick another.

Mind the caption count

In a caption most styled letters count as 2, so a styled caption fills the 2,200 limit twice as fast.

Use bold for the offer

A price, a code or a date in bold is found at a glance in a plain bio.

Match the style to your ads

Script reads soft, gothic reads loud, typewriter reads plain. Pick the one your ads already look like.

Fancy fonts and screen readers

To a screen reader, a styled letter is a math symbol. Scope, the UK disability charity, writes that screen readers "may skip them entirely or read something irrelevant to the user", and that a styled t can be read out as "mathematical sans-serif script t".

So keep what matters in plain letters: your brand name, what you sell, the offer. Use a style for one word or a short line on top of that. Bold is the first style in the list for that reason.

How do I get a different font on TikTok?

TikTok has no font setting for your name, bio or captions. Type your text in a TikTok font generator, copy the style you like and paste it into TikTok. The text keeps the look, because each letter is a Unicode character, not a font. For ads that match the new profile, Selzee makes them from your store URL.

How do I change the font in my TikTok bio?

Copy your bio in a style here, then open Profile, Edit profile and Bio, and paste it. The bio holds up to 80 characters, according to NapoleonCat. Keep your brand name plain so people can still find it. When the bio sells something, Selzee can make the ads for it.

Can I use a fancy font in my TikTok username?

No. TikTok allows only letters, numbers, underscores and periods in a username, and a period cannot be the last character. Use the styled text in your name instead, which shows above the username. Why does my TikTok font show as boxes?

The phone has no picture for that character. Bold, italic, script and sans show on almost every phone. Squares and black bubbles come from a newer part of Unicode, so they are the most likely to show as boxes. If you see a box here, your viewers can see one too, so pick another style. Does a fancy letter count as one character on TikTok?

In a caption, most do not. TikTok counts a caption in UTF-16, per its Content Posting API, and nearly every letter from the bold, italic, script and sans sets takes 2 UTF-16 units. Bubbles, wide letters and small caps take 1. For ad text that needs no styling, Selzee writes it with the ad.

Are fancy fonts bad for accessibility?

How we checked

Last checked: 24 October 2026. Every style was worked by hand from the Unicode charts for Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols and Enclosed Alphanumerics, and the username rules were read in TikTok's help center.

Thirteen cases were worked by hand as code points, including the letters a set leaves out (script e, italic h, gothic C and Z, outline R), the digits, a space in wide text, an emoji and an accented letter. The tool agrees with every one.
A text of 301 emoji was typed to check that the 300 character cap keeps whole characters and never cuts an emoji in half.
Text with markup in it is shown as letters: every row is set as plain text, never as HTML.
