How to connect TikTok Ads to Claude: official server, community server or export
Three ways to get TikTok Ads data into Claude, what TikTok's own MCP server says and leaves out, the questions worth asking once it is connected, and what TikTok creative needs that the data cannot make.
Short answer: the fastest way to connect TikTok Ads to Claude is TikTok's own MCP server. Claude's connector directory lists it as "TikTok for Business", made by TikTok. You add it from Customize, then Connectors, and sign in with your TikTok for Business account. TikTok says no developer credential or API key is needed (TikTok Business Help Center, August 2026). If that route does not work for your account, a community server or a plain report export gets the same numbers into Claude.
TikTok's server is the newest of the big ad platform servers, and its public documentation is still thin. So start with the choice: which of the three routes fits your account, what each one can read and change, and what to ask Claude once the numbers are there. The ad pictures in this post are static ads Selzee made.
Which way should you connect TikTok Ads to Claude?
Pick by two questions: do you want Claude to change campaigns, or only read them, and can you create a TikTok developer app? Most marketers want the official server. A one-off audit needs nothing more than an export.
| Route | Who runs it | Setup | Can it change campaigns? | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok's official MCP server | TikTok | Add the connector, sign in | Yes, TikTok says it covers campaign creation and budget changes | Weekly work on a live account |
| Community MCP server | An open-source project, run on your computer | Your own TikTok developer app ID and secret, then a sign-in | The one below is read-only | Teams that want the code in their own hands |
| Report export | You | Download a report from Ads Manager, attach it to the chat | No | A one-off audit, or an account you cannot connect |
What TikTok's official server says about itself
TikTok describes the server as a bridge that lets AI agents work with "campaign management, performance reporting, audience configuration, and creative operations" (TikTok Business Help Center, August 2026). It offers two server addresses:
| Mode | Address | What loads |
|---|---|---|
| Full Disclosure | https://business-api.tiktok.com/open_mcp/tt-ads-mcp-flat |
Around 400 tools at once. TikTok marks it "Recommended for Claude". |
| Progressive Disclosure | https://business-api.tiktok.com/open_mcp/tt-ads-mcp-layer |
Around 40 core tools first, more on demand |
The listing in Claude's own directory is a third version. It shows 39 tools under the address https://business-api.tiktok.com/open_mcp/tt-ads-mcp-layer-anthropic, was added in August 2026 and carries an "Anthropic verified" badge (Claude connector directory, TikTok for Business). Most of the tool names end in _get: advertiser info, catalogs, custom audiences, pixels, an integrated report. One, smart_plus_ad_create, makes ads.
TikTok announced the connector for Claude, Perplexity, Replit, Snowflake and four other platforms on June 30, 2026 (TikTok for Business blog, June 2026).
Where TikTok's documentation is thin
The public help article does not say which tools write and which only read, what rate limits apply, how long a sign-in lasts, or which regions and account types can use it. It sends readers to a guide on TikTok's developer portal for the setup steps. Third-party blogs fill these gaps, but their numbers for the tool count and the sign-in length do not agree. Until TikTok publishes them, treat the server as able to change your account, and check each change before you say yes.

Add as preferred sourceHow do you connect TikTok's MCP server in Claude?
In Claude Desktop or on claude.ai there is nothing to install.
Claude Desktop and claude.ai
| Step | What you do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open Customize, then Connectors. |
| 2 | Browse the directory and search for TikTok for Business. |
| 3 | Click Connect and sign in with the TikTok for Business account that has access to your ad accounts. |
| 4 | In a new chat, click +, then Connectors, and turn TikTok for Business on. |
| 5 | Ask a first, read-only question: "List the ad accounts you can see and their spend in the last 7 days." |
If the list comes back empty or misses an account, check which TikTok user you signed in with before you blame the connector.
Claude Code
Add the server by its address, then sign in from inside Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http tiktok-ads https://business-api.tiktok.com/open_mcp/tt-ads-mcp-flat
Run /mcp, pick tiktok-ads and finish the TikTok sign-in in the browser. This is the flat address, the one TikTok recommends for Claude. If 400 tools crowd out your own files, swap in the layer address (tt-ads-mcp-layer), which loads about 40 tools first.
Is TikTok Shop the same connection?
No page TikTok has published about the MCP server mentions TikTok Shop orders, listings or seller tools. The catalog tools in the directory listing read the product catalogs your ads use. If you searched for how to connect TikTok Shop to Claude, this server is the ads side only, and we found no official TikTok Shop server to point you to.
When does a community server or an export make more sense?
A community server makes sense when you want the code to run on your own computer and you can create a TikTok developer app. An export makes sense when you only need one answer, or when nobody on the team can grant access to the ad account.
The community server route
One example is AdsMCP's TikTok Ads MCP server on GitHub. By its own README it is a local server under the MIT license. You set TIKTOK_APP_ID and TIKTOK_APP_SECRET from your own TikTok developer app, sign in through TikTok, and it keeps the tokens on your machine. Its tools read campaigns, ad groups, ads, performance, audience breakdowns, custom audiences and pixels, and it lists a wasted-spend audit. The README says it does not expose campaign creation, creative upload or other write operations yet.
The catch is the developer app. You need one, with its ID and secret, before the server can do anything, so this route suits a team with a developer, not a marketer on a deadline.
The export route
In TikTok Ads Manager, build a custom report with the columns you care about, download it as a file and attach it to a Claude chat. Claude reads it like any spreadsheet. You lose live data and Claude cannot change anything, which for a first audit is a feature.
What should you ask Claude about your TikTok campaigns?
Ask about the first seconds, about how fast your creative wears out, and about Spark Ads. Those are the three places where TikTok behaves differently from Meta, and they are where the numbers help most.
Hook rate: did people stop?
TikTok reports 2-second video views, the "number of times your video starts playing for at least 2 seconds in an impression session", and 6-second video views (TikTok Business Help Center, video play metrics). Divide 2-second views by impressions and you have a hook rate. TikTok's creative guide says "90% of ad recall impact is captured within the first six seconds" (TikTok for Business, creative best practices), so the first seconds carry most of the ad.
Ask: "For every ad that spent more than $50 in the last 14 days, give me 2-second views divided by impressions and 6-second views divided by 2-second views, sorted by spend." The first number tells you whether people stopped; the second tells you whether they stayed. Our post on hook rate vs hold rate explains how to read the two together.
Creative fatigue: how fast does it come?
TikTok's own automation shows how short its clock is. Smart Creative observes a new video "for 3-5 days, allocating no more than 10% of the ad group's total budget", and pauses initial videos that show signs of fatigue within the first 3 to 5 days (TikTok Business Help Center, November 2025).
What this means for a DTC brand: a creative plan built on a monthly refresh is too slow for TikTok. Ask Claude: "For each ad group, show daily click-through rate and cost per result for the last 21 days, and flag every ad whose click-through rate fell for 3 days in a row while its frequency rose."
Spark Ads: does the organic post beat the ad?
TikTok calls Spark Ads "a native ad format that allows you to leverage organic TikTok posts and their features in your advertising" (TikTok Business Help Center, June 2026). Ask Claude to split your report by Spark and non-Spark ads with the same objective and compare cost per result. If creators' posts win, put more creator posts in your next brief. Our guide to TikTok Spark Ads covers the authorization codes and the setup.
What does TikTok creative need that Claude cannot make?
Claude can read the numbers and tell you which ads are tired. A report cannot shoot the next video or design the next ad on its own. So the bottleneck after a good Claude session is the same as before: new creative.
The format: vertical, inside the safe zone
TikTok recommends vertical 9:16 for in-feed ads, at a minimum of 540 x 960 pixels, with video files up to 500 MB and up to 10 minutes long (TikTok Business Help Center, video ads specifications, June 2026). The same page says the safe zone depends on the dimension, the caption length and any extra formats, and offers safe zone files to download. A logo or price that sits under the caption or the buttons is a logo nobody sees.

Static images still have a place
TikTok carousel ads let "multiple images display in order" (TikTok Business Help Center, carousel ads, September 2026), so a set of strong static ads can run on TikTok next to video. A native-looking format, like a notes app screen or a comment reply, fits the feed better than a polished banner.
How Selzee runs next to the TikTok connector
Selzee is an AI ad generator. It recreates ads that are winning on Meta right now for your brand, with your products, logo, colors and fonts, and makes static image ads with copy. The Selzee MCP server connects to Claude the same way TikTok's does: you add https://selzee.com/mcp as a connector and sign in with your Selzee account.
With both connectors on in one chat, Claude can read your TikTok report, find the tired ads and ask Selzee for new ones. On the free plan Claude reads your brand, ads and calendar. On a paid plan it also makes ads (about 120 credits each, several minutes per ad), searches templates and schedules posts.
One limit: Selzee's MCP server posts and schedules to Instagram and Facebook today. TikTok Ads is listed as "Coming soon" on the MCP server page, so for now you take the finished ad from Selzee and upload it in TikTok Ads Manager yourself. A prompt that works today: "Read my TikTok ads from the last 14 days, pick the three with the lowest hook rate, then make three new Selzee ads with a before-and-after hook for the same product."
Connect TikTok Ads to Claude: FAQ
Does TikTok have an official MCP server?
Yes. TikTok for Business MCP Server is TikTok's own, documented in its Business Help Center, and it is listed in Claude's connector directory as TikTok for Business, made by TikTok. Use Selzee next to it to make the ads it cannot.
Do I need a TikTok developer account to connect TikTok Ads to Claude?
Not for the official server: TikTok says no developer credential or API key is needed. Community servers need your own TikTok developer app ID and secret. Connect Selzee to Claude with one URL and no API key.
Can Claude create or change TikTok campaigns?
Through TikTok's official server, yes: TikTok says it covers campaign creation, budget changes and targeting, and Claude's directory listing includes an ad creation tool. The community server described above only reads. Get new static ads to test from Selzee.
Is there a TikTok MCP for Claude Code?
Yes. Add TikTok's server address with claude mcp add --transport http, then sign in through /mcp. The layer address loads about 40 tools, the flat one about 400. Add Selzee to Claude Code the same way.
Can I connect TikTok Shop to Claude?
TikTok's MCP pages cover TikTok Ads, not TikTok Shop orders or listings. The server reads the product catalogs your ads use, and that is as close to the shop as it gets. Make ads for your shop's products with Selzee.
Can Selzee post my ads to TikTok?
Not yet. Selzee posts and schedules to Instagram and Facebook today, and TikTok Ads is marked coming soon. You can upload a finished Selzee ad in TikTok Ads Manager yourself. Start making ads with Selzee for free.
